SHA-384 Generator
SHA-384 hash of text, in hex or Base64.
Hash text with this SHA512 generator and get the full 128-character SHA-512 value, the largest hash in the SHA-2 family.
Hashed as UTF-8. A trailing space or line break changes the hash.
SHA-512 works like SHA-256 with everything doubled: 1024-bit blocks, eight 64-bit words of state, and 80 rounds per block. The full state becomes the 512-bit output, which is 128 hex characters.
On a 64-bit processor each round handles twice as many bits per instruction, so SHA-512 often hashes long input faster than SHA-256. Here it runs through your browser's crypto.subtle.digest('SHA-512', ...) on the UTF-8 bytes of the text.

A SHA-512 that starts with cf83e135 is almost always the hash of nothing, a common sign that a script hashed a file before it finished loading.
$6$ are called SHA-512 crypt, but they run SHA-512 thousands of times with a salt. A single SHA-512 from this box will not match them.hash(secret + message). Use an HMAC for keyed hashing.sha512sum or certutil -hashfile name SHA512 on your computer. This page takes typed or pasted text. Both are secure today. SHA-512 has a larger margin against future attacks, and it costs more space to store. For most checksums SHA-256 is enough.
512 bits, written as 128 hex characters or 88 Base64 characters with padding.
Cutting the hex string yourself gives a different value from the standard SHA-512/256. If you need a shorter output, use SHA-384 or SHA-256 instead.
Often used together with SHA-512 Generator.
SHA-384 hash of text, in hex or Base64.
SHA3-224, SHA3-256, SHA3-384, SHA3-512, and Keccak-256 hashes of text.
Signs text or files with HMAC-SHA256 and other hashes, and checks signatures.
