Utilza Team

Utilza is built and maintained by an independent full-stack developer. The same person writes the code for every tool, writes the guides, and checks each result against a worked example before it goes live.

Who builds Utilza

The tools come from everyday work in web development: Laravel and PHP back ends, Linux servers, DNS and network setup, and Android apps. Most of the calculators and converters started as small scripts for that work and were rewritten as browser tools with the formula shown on the page.

How every tool is tested

Each tool page shows the formula or rules it uses, with every variable defined, so you can check a result by hand. The worked examples on each page are also automated tests. If the code and an example disagree, the release is stopped until one of them is fixed.

Sources and review

Unit conversions use exact SI and NIST definitions. Loan, mortgage, and savings calculators use the standard annuity and compound-interest formulas, and follow US conventions unless a page says otherwise. Health calculators follow published formulas from bodies such as the WHO and CDC, and are general estimates, not medical advice. Finance and health pages show the date they were last reviewed.

Report a wrong result

If a result looks wrong, use the contact page. Include the tool, the values you entered, and the result you expected.

  • How to add up hours on a timesheet

Add up hours on a timesheet

Turn one span into decimal hours, project a fixed week through the year, and total a week whose days differ, with overtime and gross pay.

  • Compress images for your website before you upload them

Compress images before they go on a page

Resize a photo to the width it is shown, save WebP where the page can use it, and compress with a quality you can compare before you replace the original.

  • Remove GPS and other hidden data before you share a file

Hidden data in a file you are about to send

Check a photo, a PDF, and a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file for hidden fields, then download a copy with those fields removed before you send it.

  • Should I rent or buy a house? Run the monthly cost first

Rent or buy, after you run the numbers

Price your income can carry, the full mortgage, and rent versus buy for the years you plan to stay. The figures are estimates, not a decision.

  • How much interest will you pay on a loan?

What a loan costs after the payment looks fine

See total interest on a fixed loan, what extra payments do to a mortgage, and how upfront fees change APR compared with the rate you were quoted.

  • Invalid JSON: read it, then find the first error

When the JSON will not parse

Pretty-print JSON that already parses, jump to the line and column when it does not, and open a tree when the document is too deep to scan as text.

  • Merge, split, and reorder a PDF before you send it

When the PDF is the wrong shape

Combine PDFs in the order you choose, extract the pages you need, and drag thumbnails to reorder, rotate, copy, or delete pages. The files stay in your browser.

  • How to store a password hash instead of the password

Make a password, then store the hash

Generate a random password, see what makes it weak, then store the bcrypt string. Argon2id is not available in this tool.
