  • SVG to WebP

Turns SVG files into small WebP images with transparency at any size.

Shrink, resize, and convert

The Image Compressor trades a little quality for a much smaller file, and the Image Resizer changes the width and height in pixels or percent. To change the format without losing quality, use the Image Converter, or go straight to Image to WebP or Image to AVIF for the web.

For quick edits there is the Image Cropper, the Image Rotator, the Image Flipper, and Image Grayscale. Text to Image turns a line of text into a PNG, and the Image Color Extractor pulls a palette out of a photo.

Which format should I use?

  • JPG for photos that must open everywhere. It is lossy and has no transparency.
  • PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with sharp edges or a transparent background. It is lossless, so photos get large.
  • WebP for the web. Photos are usually 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, and transparency is supported.
  • AVIF when size matters most. It often beats WebP by another 20 percent or more, but it takes longer to create.
  • SVG for icons, logos, and diagrams. It is made of shapes instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size.

Lossy and lossless

A lossy format (JPG, lossy WebP, lossy AVIF) throws away detail you are unlikely to notice, and a quality setting decides how much. Saving a lossy file again loses a bit more each time. A lossless format (PNG, lossless WebP and AVIF) keeps every pixel exactly.

Some tools here never re-encode the image at all. The Image Metadata Remover and the Image DPI Converter only rewrite the information stored around the pixels, and the SVG tools edit text. The conversion tools never lower quality: lossless images stay lossless, and photos are saved at a setting you can't tell apart from the original.

SVG tools

SVG files from design apps carry a lot of extra code. The SVG Optimizer and SVG Minifier cut it down, and the SVG Metadata Remover takes out only the editor data. The SVG Validator finds broken references and typos, the SVG Formatter makes the code readable, and the SVG ViewBox Generator makes an icon scale properly. To get a raster image, use SVG to PNG, SVG to JPG, or SVG to WebP.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image tool reads your file in the browser and does the work there, with encoders compiled to WebAssembly. Your images are never sent anywhere.

Does removing metadata lower the image quality?

No. For JPG, PNG, and WebP files the metadata remover copies the compressed image data byte for byte and only drops the blocks around it, so the pixels are exactly the same.

Why is AVIF slower to create than WebP?

The AVIF encoder does much more work to find a small file, so a large photo can take a few seconds. It runs in the background, so the page stays usable while it works.

How many images can I process at once?

Up to 20 images per batch, each up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels. Several results download together as one ZIP file.
