How to use the Image Resizer
- Add one or more images by choosing, dropping, or pasting them.
- Pick Pixels or Percent.
- With Keep aspect ratio ticked, type a width or a height. The other side follows the shape of each image.
- To force an exact size, untick the box, enter both sides, and choose what happens when the shape differs: stretch, fit inside, or fill and crop.
- Choose the output format and quality, then download the images one by one or as a ZIP.
How it works
With the ratio kept, the missing side is worked out from the original shape:
new height = new width × original height ÷ original width
- Fit inside scales the image until it touches the edges of your box, so one side may come out smaller than you typed.
- Fill and crop scales the image until it covers the whole box, then trims the overflow equally from both sides.
- Stretch uses your numbers as they are, which squashes the picture if the shape differs.
- When shrinking, the image is halved step by step before the last resize. Averaging pixels in stages keeps fine lines and text sharp instead of jagged.
- Results are rounded to whole pixels. The color profile is copied into the new file.
Examples
- A 4000 × 3000 photo with width 1200 and the ratio kept becomes 1200 × 900.
- A 1080 × 1920 phone screenshot with height 960 becomes 540 × 960.
- 50% of a 3000 × 2000 image is 1500 × 1000.
- A 4000 × 3000 photo in a 1000 × 1000 box: Fit inside gives 1000 × 750, Fill and crop gives 1000 × 1000 with 500 source pixels trimmed from each side.

Limitations
- Making an image larger can't add detail, so enlarged images look soft. The tool warns you when that happens.
- The result can be up to 20,000 pixels on a side and 100 megapixels in total.
- Animated GIF and WebP files keep only their first frame.
- JPG output has no transparency. Transparent areas turn white.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image without losing quality?
Shrinking always drops pixels, but the step-by-step downscaling keeps it sharp. Save as PNG, or keep quality at 90 or more for JPG and WebP. Avoid enlarging, which can only make the picture softer.
Does resizing reduce the file size?
Yes, a lot. Halving the width and height leaves a quarter of the pixels, so the file usually ends up around a quarter of its size or less.
What does keep aspect ratio mean?
The image keeps its shape: width and height change by the same factor, so nothing looks stretched. You type one side and the other is calculated.
Can I resize many images to the same width?
Yes. Add up to 20 images, keep the ratio, and type a width. Each image gets that width and a height that matches its own shape.
