    How to use the Image Flipper

    1. Add one or more images.
    2. Choose Horizontal to mirror left and right, Vertical to swap top and bottom, or Both.
    3. Check the thumbnails and download the flipped files.

    How it works

    Flipping moves pixels without changing them:

    • Horizontal: the pixel at column x moves to column width - 1 - x.
    • Vertical: the pixel at row y moves to row height - 1 - y.
    • Both at once is the same as turning the image 180°.

    Width and height stay the same, and transparent pixels stay transparent. PNG output is lossless; JPG is saved again at quality 92.

    Examples

    • A front-camera selfie with backwards text on a T-shirt: flip it horizontally and the text reads normally.
    • A document scanned face down that came out upside down and mirrored: choose Both.
    • An arrow icon pointing right that you need pointing left: flip it horizontally and keep it as PNG.

    A vertical flip is not the same as turning an image upside down: text becomes mirrored as well. Flipping both ways gives the same result as a 180° turn.

    Limitations

    • JPG files are saved again at quality 92.
    • Animated GIFs keep only their first frame, saved as PNG.
    • Faces and text look backwards after a horizontal flip. That is what a mirror does.

    How do I mirror an image?

    Add the image and choose Horizontal. The left and right sides swap, like a reflection in a mirror.

    What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

    Rotating turns the whole picture, so text stays readable. Flipping mirrors it, so text comes out backwards. Flipping both horizontally and vertically equals a 180° rotation.

    Does flipping lower the quality?

    The pixels are only moved, not changed. PNG and lossless WebP results are exact. JPG files are saved again at quality 92, which you won't notice.

    Why are selfies mirrored?

    Many phones show the front camera as a mirror so it feels natural, and some save it that way too. Flip horizontally to see yourself as others do.
