How to turn text into an image

  1. Type or paste your text. Press Enter for a new line.
  2. Pick the font, size, and weight.
  3. Set the text color and the background, or tick Transparent background.
  4. Adjust padding, line height, and alignment. Enter a Max width to wrap long lines.
  5. Choose PNG, JPG, or WebP and 1x or 2x, then press Download image.

How it works

The text is drawn on a canvas in your browser, the same way a web page draws text.

  • Each line is measured with the chosen font. With a max width set, words move to the next line when they don't fit, and a single word that is too long is broken.
  • The image size is the widest line plus padding on both sides, and the number of lines times the line height plus padding on top and bottom.
  • At 2x every size is doubled, so the text stays sharp on high-density screens and in slides.
  • PNG keeps transparency exactly. JPG has no transparency, so it always gets the background color.

Examples

  • The default, "Hello, world" in 48 px Roboto on white with 40 px padding, makes an image of 331 × 143 pixels.
  • A two-line quote in 36 px serif, centered, with a max width of 600 px, wraps into as many lines as it needs and stays at most 680 px wide.
  • A transparent PNG of a product name in bold white text can be placed over any photo in a slide or video editor.

Is this an AI image generator?

No. "Text to image" also names AI tools that invent a picture from a description. This tool draws the exact words you type as an image, like a graphic you would make in a design app. It is handy for quotes, social posts, labels, watermarks, and text you need as a picture file.

Limitations

  • The system fonts (serif, sans-serif, monospace) look different on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. Roboto looks the same everywhere.
  • Images can be up to 8000 pixels on each side.
  • One style for the whole text. Mixing bold and normal words needs a design app.

How do I make a text image with a transparent background?

Tick Transparent background and choose PNG or WebP. JPG can't store transparency, so it always uses the background color.

Can I use my own font?

Not yet. You can choose Roboto or your system's serif, sans-serif, and monospace fonts.

Why does the text look blurry on my phone?

Choose 2x. The image is drawn at twice the size, so it stays crisp on high-density screens.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The image is drawn in your browser, and your text is never uploaded.
