How to convert SVG to PNG
- Paste the SVG code or drop the .svg file on the text box.
- Choose Scale (1x to 8x the SVG's own size) or Exact size and type a width or height.
- Keep Transparent background ticked, or untick it and pick a color.
- Check the preview and press Download PNG.
How it works
The SVG is given the target width and height and drawn by the browser straight onto a canvas of that size, then saved as a lossless PNG.
- Because the vector shapes are drawn at the final size, edges and text are sharp at 8x. Nothing is scaled up from a small picture.
- The starting size comes from the SVG's
widthandheight, or its viewBox. A file with neither gets the browser default of 300 × 150. - If the file has no viewBox, one is added from its size first, so the drawing grows with the image.
- With an exact width only, the height follows the SVG's ratio, and the other way round.
Examples
- A 24 × 24 icon at 4x becomes a 96 × 96 PNG.
- The 64 × 64 sample icon at 8x becomes a 512 × 512 PNG, a common size for app store icons.
- A 300 × 100 logo with an exact width of 1200 becomes 1200 × 400.

Limitations
- Images and web fonts linked from the SVG are not loaded, so text in a custom web font falls back to a system font. Convert text to paths in your design app first.
- SVGs that embed HTML with
<foreignObject>may be blocked by the browser. - The PNG can be up to 8000 pixels on each side.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert SVG to PNG with a transparent background?
Keep Transparent background ticked. Areas the SVG does not paint stay fully transparent in the PNG.
Will the PNG be blurry?
No. The vector drawing is rendered at the final pixel size, so a 4x or 8x PNG is as sharp as the SVG itself.
Why does the text in my PNG use a different font?
Web fonts linked from the SVG are not loaded when it is drawn as an image. Convert the text to outlines (paths) in your design app, or embed the font in the SVG.
What size should my PNG be?
Twice the size it is shown at, so it stays sharp on high-density screens. For a 64 px icon on a website, make a 128 px PNG.
