How to use the Ad Revenue Calculator

  1. Enter your Monthly page views.
  2. Choose to estimate from Page RPM, or from ad units per page, viewability, click-through rate, and cost per click.
  3. Press Calculate. Monthly revenue appears first, with daily and yearly amounts.

How it works

RPM method: revenue = page views ÷ 1,000 × page RPM
click method: revenue = page views × ad units × viewability × CTR × CPC
daily = monthly × 12 ÷ 365, yearly = monthly × 12

Page RPM is revenue per 1,000 page views, the figure ad networks such as AdSense report.

Examples

  • 100,000 page views at a $10 page RPM: $1,000 a month, $12,000 a year.
  • The same traffic with 3 ad units, 70% viewability, 0.5% CTR, and $0.80 CPC: $840 a month, an effective RPM of $8.40.

What moves RPM

Audience country matters most: US, UK, and Australian visitors often earn several times more than visitors elsewhere. Topic matters next, with finance, insurance, and software paying the most. Season matters too; RPM usually peaks in the fourth quarter and drops in January.

Limitations

  • RPM varies by niche, country, device, and season. Use your own figures when you have them.
  • Revenue share, payment thresholds, and taxes are not included.
