How to use the Salary Calculator

  1. Enter your Pay and choose what it is Per: hour, day, week, month, or year.
  2. Check the Hours per week, Days per week, and Weeks per year. Add paid holidays and vacation days if you want the rate per hour actually worked.
  3. Press Calculate. The yearly salary appears first, then the pay for every other period.

How it works

yearly = pay × periods per year
hourly = yearly ÷ (hours per week × weeks)
daily = yearly ÷ (days per week × weeks)
weekly = yearly ÷ weeks, biweekly = yearly ÷ (weeks ÷ 2)
semi-monthly = yearly ÷ 24, monthly = yearly ÷ 12
per hour worked = yearly ÷ ((working days − paid days off) × hours per day)

Examples

  • $25 an hour, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks: $52,000 a year, or $4,333.33 a month.
  • A $60,000 salary is $28.85 an hour and $2,307.69 every two weeks.
  • With 10 paid days off, that $60,000 works out to $30.00 for each hour actually worked.

Biweekly or semi-monthly?

Biweekly means every two weeks: 26 paychecks a year, with two months that have three. Semi-monthly means twice a month: 24 paychecks, each a little larger. The yearly total is the same.

Limitations

  • All figures are before tax and deductions. Take-home pay depends on local tax rules.
  • Overtime is not included. Use the time card calculator for overtime pay.
  • Paid days off do not change the salary; they only change the rate per hour worked.
