How to use the Twitter Card Generator

  1. Select the card type you want to use.
  2. Enter the page title, description, image URL, and any site or creator handles.
  3. Copy the generated tags into the head section, then test the live page after publishing.

How it works

Twitter card tags are standard meta tags with names that start with twitter:. The required field is the card type, and the rest add the text and image details for the preview.

  • twitter:card chooses between a compact summary card and a larger image card.
  • twitter:title and twitter:description control the preview text.
  • twitter:image and twitter:image:alt describe the preview image.
  • twitter:site and twitter:creator identify the account names tied to the card.

The generator runs in your browser, so your draft tags are not uploaded or stored.

Examples

  • A news article can use summary_large_image with a 1200 pixel wide hero image.
  • A documentation page can use a smaller summary card when the image is secondary to the title.
  • A personal article can include twitter:creator so the author account appears with the card.

Limitations

  • X can fall back to Open Graph tags or cache old values, so a correct card is not always visible right away.
  • The generator does not check whether the handle exists or whether the image meets current platform rules.
  • A card can still be rewritten or cropped by the platform depending on the app, device, or share context.

What is the difference between summary and summary_large_image?

summary uses a smaller thumbnail layout. summary_large_image gives the image more space and is usually better for articles and landing pages.

Do I need the @ sign in twitter:site?

Yes. Use the handle the way X expects it, such as @utilza.

Will X always use my Twitter tags?

Not always. Cached values, missing images, or conflicting tags can change the final preview.
