How to use Audio Fade In/Out

    1. Choose an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file.
    2. Enter fade-in and fade-out durations in seconds. Use zero to leave either end unchanged.
    3. Choose the output format, sample rate and channels.
    4. Press Apply fades, listen to the result and download the edited copy.

Choose fade lengths that fit the recording

A fade-in raises gain from silence at the start. A fade-out lowers it toward silence at the end. For a spoken intro, a short fade can soften an abrupt edge. Music may need a longer transition that follows the phrase.

Each fade must fit inside the recording. If the two fade regions overlap, both gain changes affect the overlap. This tool does not crossfade two separate recordings.

    Fade a short music bed

For a 30-second background track, try a 2-second fade-in and a 3-second fade-out. Listen to the start and the last phrase before downloading. These are starting settings, not a rule for every song.

Trim an MP3 first with MP3 Cutter, or combine recordings with Audio Joiner before applying a fade to the combined track.

    Before you download

    • Fades change volume over time; they do not remove noise or repair clipping.
    • The edited file is re-encoded. Lossy output can add compression artifacts.
    • The waveform shows the original recording. Use the result player to hear the applied fades.

    Frequently asked questions

    Can I add only a fade-out?

Yes. Set Fade in to zero and enter the fade-out length you need.

    Does this crossfade two songs?

No. It fades the start and end of one recording. Joining files does not create an overlapping crossfade.

    Can the fades overlap?

Yes, when their combined lengths exceed the recording duration. Both changes affect the overlap, so listen before saving.

    Is the original overwritten?

No. You download a separate edited copy. The original file on your device remains unchanged.
