How to convert a PDF to JPG

How it works
PDF pages are measured in points, 72 to an inch. pdf.js draws each page onto a canvas at
pixels = page size in points / 72 × DPI
so an A4 page (595 × 842 points) at 150 DPI becomes 1,240 × 1,754 pixels. JPG files are written with MozJPEG at quality 92 without chroma subsampling, which keeps colored text crisp. PNG files are lossless.
A page that would pass 50 megapixels is drawn at the highest resolution under that limit, and the tool tells you which DPI it used.

The 3-page sample converted at 150 DPI gives three JPG files named sample-report-page-1.jpg to sample-report-page-3.jpg.
JPG or PNG?
Pick JPG for pages with photos or scans: the files are much smaller. Pick PNG for text, charts, and line drawings when every edge must stay sharp, or when you will edit the image later. For sharing on the web, you can shrink either with the Image Compressor afterwards.
Limitations
- Password-protected PDFs can't be opened.
- Pages are drawn as a PDF reader shows them. Rare features, such as some forms made with Adobe XFA, may not appear.
- The images have no text layer; to get the words, use PDF to Text.
Frequently asked questions
What DPI should I choose?
150 DPI is sharp on screens and small enough to share. Use 300 DPI for printing or zooming in on details, and 72 or 96 DPI for small previews.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF to JPG?
Yes. Type the page number in the Pages field, for example 4, and only that page is converted.
Are my PDF pages uploaded to be converted?
No. pdf.js draws the pages in your browser, and the images are encoded there as well.
Why is the text in my JPG slightly blurry?
JPG is made for photos and softens sharp edges a little. Choose PNG, or a higher DPI, for pages that are mostly text.
