How to turn text into a Word document

  1. Paste your text, upload a .txt file, or press Load sample.
  2. Pick the font and the size.
  3. Choose Every line if each line is a paragraph, or Blank lines if paragraphs are separated by an empty line.
  4. Turn on the heading option if your text marks headings with #. The preview shows the result.
  5. Press Create DOCX and download the file.

How it works

A .docx file is a ZIP archive with a few XML files inside. The tool writes the smallest set Word needs: [Content_Types].xml, the relationships, word/document.xml with your paragraphs, and word/styles.xml with the Normal style (your font and size) and Heading 1 to 3. The archive is built with fflate in your browser.

Line breaks inside a block paragraph become soft line breaks, tabs become Word tabs, and characters XML can't hold are dropped. Paragraphs whose first letter is Arabic, Persian, or Hebrew are set right to left. No document properties are written, so the file carries no name, company, or dates.

Examples

  • The sample meeting notes with headings on give a document with Heading 1 "Meeting notes", Heading 2 sections for Attendees, Decisions, and To do, and a normal paragraph for every other line.
  • An email pasted with blank lines between paragraphs and Blank lines selected keeps each paragraph together, with its own line breaks inside.
  • A list of 200 product names with Every line gives 200 paragraphs, ready to turn into a bulleted list in Word.

Limitations

  • Plain text only: no bold, italic, links, tables, or images.
  • Pages are A4 with 2.54 cm margins; change the size in Word if you need Letter.
  • The font must be installed on the computer that opens the file, or Word picks a similar one.

Will the DOCX file open in Google Docs and LibreOffice?

Yes. It is a standard Office Open XML document, which Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, Pages, and WPS Office all open.

How do I make headings?

Start a line with # for a main heading, ## for a section, or ### for a subsection, then turn on Lines starting with # are headings.

Does it work with Persian or Arabic text?

Yes. Paragraphs that start with a right-to-left letter are marked right to left, so Word aligns them correctly.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The document is built in your browser from the text in the box.
