How to use the Internal Link Checker

How it works

This check runs on our server. The page address is used only for this check and is not stored.

The tool fetches one page, extracts anchor links, resolves them to absolute URLs, keeps only same-host targets, and checks up to 100 unique internal links. Redirecting internal links are flagged because they waste crawl budget and slow the user path.

The result table also includes anchor text and any rel values so you can spot patterns such as repeated nofollow links or multiple links to the same destination.

Examples

  • A navigation link that still points to an old URL and redirects to the new one is flagged for cleanup.
  • Two links with different anchor text that go to the same internal target are listed as duplicates.
  • An internal link with nofollow appears in the result so you can review whether that rel value makes sense.

Limitations

  • The checker runs on one page and tests up to 100 internal links per request.
  • It does not crawl deeper pages to build a site-wide internal link map.
  • Links added after JavaScript runs are not part of the report.

Why should I fix internal redirects?

Does this tool check external links too?

No. This version keeps only same-host links. Use the Broken Link Checker for both internal and external links.

What counts as a duplicate internal link?

Different anchor tags that resolve to the same final internal target are treated as duplicates in the report.
